ISA President Larry Clinton Elected the Information Technology Sector Coordinating Council Vice Chair
The votes were tallied and the Information Technology Sector Coordinating Council (IT SCC) announced that Internet Security Alliance President Larry Clinton was elected to the Council’s Vice Chair.
The Chair position is currently held by ISA Board Member and Symantec Vice President, Global Government Affairs & Cybersecurity Policy, Cheri McGuire.
The Sector Coordinating Councils, including the ITSCC, were created at the behest of The Department of Homeland Security to serve as a primary conduit between the public sector and the private sector on issues of homeland security.
SCCs can operate under the Critical Infrastructure Partnership Advisory Council (CIPAC), which allows for a degree of confidential information sharing that goes beyond what is generally allowed in the interests extending the public-private partnership.
However the SCC cannot engage in any advocacy activities. Many ISA members as well as ISA as an entity, participate in several SCCs, including both the IT and Communication SCCs.
The ISA believes that Larry’s election to a senior position on the IT SCC is especially critical at this point in time given that some of the legislative efforts underway may serve to fundamentally alter the public-private partnership as envisioned in the “National Infrastructure Protection Plan” (NIPP) and the Obama Administration’s “Cyberspace Policy Review.”
The ISA is looking forward to working with its members and the members of the IT sector in advancing the effectiveness of the partnership in the interests of our nation's cybersecurity.
